點斑蜂鳥體重約4.93克，翼長約53.1毫米，嘴峰 長約17.9毫米，喙寬度約2.6毫米，喙厚度約2.1毫米，跗蹠 長約6毫米，尾長約35.4毫米。點斑蜂鳥在其分佈區內為留鳥，其棲息在密集的高大樹木組成的森林中，食性為草食性，主要食物來源是植物的花蜜。[3]
