林鳽（學名：Zonerodius heliosylus），是鹈形目鹭科林鳽属（Zonerodius）下的唯一一种鸟类。[2]這個物種僅分佈於新幾內亞、萨拉瓦蒂岛和阿鲁群岛內，有溪流、水池和沼澤的森林深處，海拔100—300公尺處。[3][4][5][6]因其棲地正在減少，因此其物種狀態被歸入近危。[5]
這個物種於1828年由法國博物學家勒内-普里梅韦勒·莱松及普羅斯珀·加爾諾於1828年描述。[7][8]1882年，義大利鳥類學家托馬索·薩爾瓦多里認為其特徵與分佈於美洲的虎斑鷺屬相似但有略微不同而將林鳽獨立成一屬。[9]其屬名來自古希臘語ζώνη（羅馬化：zōnē，意為「條帶、區域」）及ερωδιό（羅馬化：erōdios，意為「鷺」）。[10]:414種小名則來自ἥλῐος（羅馬化：hēlios，意為「奪得、偷去」）及σῡλάω（羅馬化：sulaō，意為「太陽」），莱松當時給予林鳽「Héron Phaëthon」之名，與希臘神話中的法厄同有所關係。[10]:188

在分類學中，林鳽原本因其與虎斑鷺屬的外觀相似性而被長期認為是虎鷺亞科的成員。[12]:377[11]但2023年的线粒体DNA親緣研究顯示該屬應隸屬於鷺亞科下，與池鷺屬形成姊妹群。[11]林鳽為單型種，沒有其他亞種。[2]
林鳽體長65—71公分，体重平均约802克。[13][12]:422成鳥的頭頂黑色，上半身為褐黑色，具有明顯的淺褐至赤褐色的羽毛末端，形成橫向條紋的外觀。[14]其下半身則呈黑色和淺棕色條紋相間，頸下和上胸部則呈黑色和淺棕色條紋交錯；下巴呈白色或淺棕色；腹部多呈白至淺棕色之間。[14]其翼长平均约30.30厘米，喙宽度平均约13毫米，喙厚度平均约19.2毫米，嘴峰长平均约93.6毫米，跗蹠长平均约94.7毫米，尾长平均约12.42厘米。[13]兩性幾乎沒有差異，僅雌性體型上略小並在部分區域有偏綠的光澤或色調；季節上的似乎也未有差異性。[14]
林鳽是一種留鸟，為肉食性，主要以鱼类、甲壳动物、软体动物等水生动物及蜥蜴和蛇類为食，常在水邊埋伏於植被中獨自進食。[13][3][12]:422其繁殖季資訊不多，但推測可能與季風有關，約在4—6月之間繁殖；而唯一有記錄過的巢位於溪流旁的樹上，以樹枝築成。[12]:422[14]
這個物種的整體族群數量估計約有1500—7000隻成鳥，雖然並未遭受捕獵危險，但據信其適合的生存環境正在逐漸喪失和退化，因此其數量趨勢可能正在減少。[5]在《國際自然保護聯盟瀕危物種紅色名錄》中，國際鳥盟因此將林鳽列為近危物種。[1][5]
